But leeeet’s slow down for a second. What is it all about?

Simply put – I planted bulbs for the next year ๐Ÿ‘

So! It’s finally October and it feels insane. One might think that there isn’t much to do in the garden planting – wise, but alas! All the produce that grows over winter and shows it’s cute little head in spring should go to the ground ๐Ÿ™‚ In today’s case, we’re talking about flowers~

And so flower power it is! The time frame for flower bulbs is usually September – November, but when to exactly reach for one’s spade is usually determined by the weather. Cheeky little thing.

Too warm – things like to sprout too early and die.

Too rainy – bulbs might rot.

And so we landed in October this year, yay!

Today tulips found their home, which is, in this economy, quite a feat. I placed the bulbs quite close to one another because all earthlings are a one big family ๐Ÿ’• Might as well get cosy, right?

It’s not like I did it for looks~

I make the holes with a tool, but spade is good too. There’s nothing like a good spade, am I right?

But it is definitely handy ๐Ÿ˜‰ One important thing to know is where is the bulbs head and where is the butt. Head is from where it sprouts, the pointy end, butt is from where the roots grow, the flatter one to put it simply :3 We mustn’t make the poor flowers do headstands the whole winter! Head up, butt down. Much comfier โค

After giving them a blankie of dirt, all they need is a bit of water and we’re done~

Next stop – spring! The whole idea is that they establish roots in winter and grow and bloom beautifully in the spring. Yeah. Should have said that at the beginning. Oh well, there had to be some tension, some mystery, good job detectives!

I had to do some detective work as well, as the packaging from Holland Selection ยฎ gave me quite a riddle.

Tulip Van Eijk? Sounds intriguing. My Dutch friend said this variety of tulip was created in 1995, wow! Some inside scoop hehe.

But that’s not why it’s particularly interesting, it’s because I’ve found a painter, which, seeing the Early Nederlandish style in his work, fits quite well:

It’s so poetic isn’t it, having flower named after you. Romantic even!

Well if it’s not named after him at least we got to know a cool painter.

That’s it for today then!

See ya!๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒท
